Hi, I’m Cyndee, A kids coach at Matadero Jiu Jitsu in Whittier. I’ve been training Jiu Jitsu for over five years and am proud to have earned my purple belt. I’ve been volunteering with the kid’s class for about three years and recently stepped into my role as a kids coach.
Working with the kids is where my heart is. My biggest goal is to get to know each student individually and meet them where they are. I’m naturally very empathetic and I understand that Jiu Jitsu can be hard because I know, it’s hard! I love helping students work through those moments, encouraging them when they’re struggling and celebrating them when something finally clicks.
There’s nothing like seeing that look on a kid’s face when their little brain suddenly gets it. Those moments become memories forever and getting to be part of them is one of my favorite things about coaching.
Jiu Jitsu has become a huge part of my life, my whole family trains together. Outside of the mats, I’m an artist at heart and love anything creative, music, skating and being outdoors. I’m also known for my playlist, which tend to get a few compliments!
I’m grateful to be part of the Matadero community and to help create a place where students feel supported, challenged, celebrated, and excited to keep learning.
